Almost when I had lost every hope on finding a decent Sunday Roast (due to bad luck I guess), I realised that I did not have to go too far from my place to find the perfect one. It was there all along, located in my neighbourhood, in the Hammersmith area.
We made a great discovery finding The Dartmouth Castle today. None of us left the place disappointed, and we were 5 people. Each of went for a different roast, and all of them were absolutely outstanding no matter whether it was chicken, beef or lamb.
I chose chicken and, whereas I always get a “brick” of dry chicken in my plate, this time it was going to be different. The meat was so tender that it literally melted in the palate. I am pretty sure it was free range chicken, you could tell for the colour of the skin. The potatoes and carrots were simply cooked to perfection and the green beans wrapped in pancetta were fabulous too. I must say I do not particularly like green beans, but those were something else. Finally the gravy, what can I say? it was very rich in flavour, I would have dipped a full loaf of bread in it if I would have had it. A nice touch was the Yorkshire pudding, which although not belonging to the Chicken Sunday Roast, the kind waitress brought us some for the centre of the table and it was very nice too.
I now believe again in Sunday Roast, thanks to The Dartmouth Castle. We recommend everyone to give it a try, you won’t leave the place disappointed.
